Professional Horseman – Champion, Trainer, NCHA Judge
From a long line of horsemen... Originally from the hills of South Dakota, Joe Ammann grew up farming and ranching with his father and brothers. He first saddled a horse at four years old and was scouted by Shorty Freeman at age 19 in Abilene, KS. After further study under the tutelage of world champion cutting horse trainer Bill McNeil, Joe continued to train with Ronnie Rice, Larry Reeder, and Bill James to become one of the most prolific horse trainers of our time. Today, he carries on the 100-year-old Ammann family tradition by operating the executive equine facility at 2UW Brush Creek Ranch in the Flint Hills of Kansas, where he trains and sells horses.
