Professional Horseman – Champion, Trainer, NCHA Judge

From a long line of horsemen... Originally from the hills of South Dakota, Joe Ammann grew up farming and ranching with his father and brothers. He first saddled a horse at four years old and was scouted by Shorty Freeman at age 19 in Abilene, KS. After further study under the tutelage of world champion cutting horse trainer Bill McNeil, Joe continued to train with Ronnie Rice, Larry Reeder, and Bill James to become one of the most prolific horse trainers of our time. Today, he carries on the 100-year-old Ammann family tradition by operating the executive equine facility at 2UW Brush Creek Ranch in the Flint Hills of Kansas, where he trains and sells horses.

Over the last 40 years, Joe has focused his professional equine business on developing champion horses and riders. His reputation in the cutting horse training arena is far-reaching and well-regarded, having trained horses that have won $1 million in prize money and been in TV and film. He also mentors and trains riders, including through the 2UW Horsemanship certification program to create winning rider and horse teams. That is all why riders and horse owners from all over the world come to be trained by Joe at 2UW Brush Creek Ranch.
